Welcome to the Olympic Media section of the Equestrian website. In this section we will introduce specific media-related information for those accredited to cover the Equestrian Events of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
We are here to serve you, the media, to ensure your stay in Hong Kong is comfortable and hassle-free in the execution of your duties. We have a first-class team of representatives specially trained in media relations to offer all the assistance you need from the time you arrive at Hong Kong International Airport to checking in at the Media Hotel and registering at the core competition venue in Sha Tin.
We have 404 print media and 260 rights holding broadcasters accredited for the Equestrian Events in August, the highest number ever for the Olympic Equestrian Events.
The Media Hotel has a media workroom with CATV and INFO2008 terminals, Wi-Fi, and a lounge area. This provides research resources before competition time.
Although the Sha Tin venue is very compact, more than 700 media seats are provided within the Sha Tin venue. In addition, there is plenty of room at the Beas River venue, which is about 30 minutes away from the Sha Tin venue.
We have also addressed issues of security screening to streamline media access to the venues. Instead of taking transport from the Media Hotel to the venue, queuing up for screening and then taking a shuttle bus to the media centre, we will provide screening in the Media Hotel and a direct shuttle from the hotel to the media centre inside the competition venues on competition days. This will save considerable time in reaching the Venue Media Centre during the competition period.
For many of the accredited media, this may be your first visit to Hong Kong. And those who have visited before just keep coming back. It is a vibrant and exciting city; a wonderful blend of East and West. To ensure you have plenty of opportunities to explore this marvelous city, we have been working closely with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to arrange a series of tours and cultural activities for you. As most competitions do not start until evening, you will have ample time to explore and enjoy what the city has to offer.
Hong Kong welcomes you.
Looking forward to seeing you in Hong Kong in August 2008!
