Entering Hong Kong

Passport
  Visitors entering Hong Kong must possess a passport with sufficient validity.
Visas
  Nationals from around 170 countries enjoy visa-free entry and are permitted to stay for periods varying from seven days to six months, depending on nationality. Details on agreements with individual countries can be found here .
  Nationals from countries not covered by visa-free agreements can apply for an entry visa through the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in their home country prior to making their trip.

Applicants for entry visas to Hong Kong must possess a bona fide travel document, a valid return ticket and adequate funds to cover costs during their stay in Hong Kong.

Consulates
  There are currently 57 Consulates-General, 57 Consulates and 5 Officially Recognised Bodies in Hong Kong. Visitors can find the contact details of consulates and official representatives of their home country using the HKSAR Government's Protocol Division website: http://www.protocol.gov.hk/eng/consular/index.html
Arrival
  All visitors entering Hong Kong must go through Customs clearance.

Hong Kong has strict regulations controlling weapons of any kind, including personal protection devices such as 'mace' spray.

Travellers may wish to find out about duty-free concessions and prohibited items before embarking on their journey.
Departure & Transit
  Due to enhanced security measures at the Hong Kong International Airport, travellers departing from, or transiting in, Hong Kong are prohibited from carrying sharp objects such as knives, cutters, scissors, razor blades, and household cutlery in their carry-on luggages. These items must be stored in check-in baggages.

Restrictions on carry-on liquids, gels and aerosols are also in place. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be stored in containers no bigger than 100ml and placed in a single (maximum one per passenger) transparent re-sealable bag with a capacity not exceeding one litre. Check here for details.
